Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home has been servicing Heavener and the surrounding areas for many years.

From the early 1900's until 1953, the name of the funeral home was Hall Funeral Home.

Glen Dowden received his Funeral Service Degree from Kansas City School of Embalming in 1939 and served as funeral director and embalmer at Hall Funeral Home for many years. On July 1, 1953, Glen purchased Hall Funeral Home and changed the name to Dowden Funeral Home. He took over operations of the funeral home and also provided the area with an ambulance service. He maintained his license until his death in 1993.

In 1963, Glen's son, Hal Dowden, received his Funeral Service Degree from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Service. Hal came back to Heavener and joined his father, Glen, in the funeral home operations.

In 1977, Max Roberts graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science with a degree in funeral service. In July of 1980, Max joined Glen and Hal in the daily operations of the funeral home.

On May 10, 1996, the funeral home that was located in downtown Heavener was destroyed by fire, and in February 1997, a new funeral home was built and completed on Wister Lake Road.

In July 1998, Hal Dowden sold the funeral home to Selected Financial Service Corporation in Hot Springs, Arkansas. At that time, Max Roberts was named manager of the funeral home.

Dylan Roberts, Max's son, became employed at the funeral home in September 1998, and he graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor's Degree in Funeral Science in December 2004.

In January 2014, Max and Dylan purchased the funeral home from Selected Financial Service Corporation in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and changed the name to Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.
