Obituary

Teto Sabala of Edmond, Oklahoma (formerly of Heavener, Oklahoma) was born August 18, 1927 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to John and Juanita (Farris) Sabala and passed away September 11, 2017 in Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 90.
He is survived by:
Two daughters:
Anna Hembree and husband, Ed, of Edmond, Oklahoma
Teresa Stockton and husband, Ron, of Overland Park, Kansas
Two sons:
Michael Sabala and wife, Angelica, of Amarillo, Texas
Mark Sabala and wife, Karen, of Warr Acres, Oklahoma
Two brothers:
Ferman Sabala and wife, Willa, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Santos Sabala of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Four sisters:
Juanita Blaydes of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Mercedes Conder and husband, Fred, of Austin, Texas
Mary Ann Thornton and husband, Wayne, of Collinsville, Oklahoma
Eloise Parks of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Eight grandchildren: Krista, Ryan, Jessica, Christina, Sarah, Jacob, Samantha and Tabitha, and four great-grandchildren: Spencer Leigh, Hunter, Charleigh, and Lincoln.
Teto was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine, whom he married on September 12, 1954; one son, John; one daughter, Angela; one grandson, Spencer; two brothers, Victor and Celso; and four sisters, Secora, Isabella, Carmel, and Concepcion. He was a graduate of Hartshorne High School, and a long time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council. Teto was also a volunteer for the U.S. Army, serving from September 1945 to December 1946, where he trained as a Demolition Technician. He retired from ODOT after working 39 years, the last 12 years as resident engineer. Teto loved being a gardener.
A rosary service will be at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral mass following at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Poteau with Father Jim Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Sabala, Mark Sabala, Ryan Sabala, John "Butch" Sabala, Chester Dennis, Ron Stockton, Jacob Stockton, and Saxon Tallman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ed Hembree, Ferman Sabala, and Santos Sabala
Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the family visiting with friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
