Shirley Ann Phillips of Hodgen, Oklahoma was born January 29, 1934 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Ellis and Lucinda (Sanders) Burgess and passed away April 6, 2017 in Hodgen, Oklahoma at the age of 83.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hughes Burgess; and one step-son, Ronnie Foster. Shirley was an active member at Stapp-Zoe Baptist Church and a long-time resident of the Hodgen Community. She retired from American Airlines, where she worked long-term as an Executive Secretary and later transferred in the warehouse and loading center. She also worked shortly as a cafeteria worker for Heavener Public Schools. Shirley was actively involved in LeFlore County HCF Association and Weight Watchers. Shirley loved cooking, sewing, watching her soap opera, "Days of Our Lives", and listening to Bluegrass music. She loved helping others any way she could.
Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Stapp-Zoe Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Garrett officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
