Samuel "Sammy" Ray Simpson, Sr. was born June 5, 1953 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Cecil and Thelma (Tatom) Simpson and passed away August 22, 2019, in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 66.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Thelma Simpson; three sisters, Ernestine Parks, Bobbie Simpson, and Coreana Neel; and one brother, G.C. Simpson. Sammy was a rig manager for several years for Helmerich and Payne. He enjoyed working, fishing and playing ball with his dog General Lee.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Sam Dyer and Reverend Keaton Standstipher officiating. Interment will follow in Hontubby Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, at the funeral home.
