Peggy Ann (Haney) Perdue of Heavener, Oklahoma was born September 26, 1938 in Monroe, Oklahoma to Edgar "Doc" and Montez (Hemphill) Haney and passed away May 19, 2017 in Heavener, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 24 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Perdue, Sr., her grandparents, Shorty and Bertha Hemphill, one uncle, Joe Paul Hemphill and step mother, Macie Haney. Peggy grew up and went to school in Monroe, graduating in 1955 at the age of 16, skipping two grades in the process. She obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Business at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma, in 1957, while playing varsity basketball. Here she met and later married Ralph Perdue, Sr., a varsity football player for Eastern and Central State University. They were married in Oklahoma City by Dr. J. T. Roberts on June 19, 1959. Peggy then graduated from Central State University, now the University of Central Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1962. She worked for Kerr-McGee Oil Industries in Oklahoma City for three years while attending. Peggy then began working for the Oklahoma City School Systems and worked there for four years. They had a son, Ralph Jay Jr. in 1963 and Edgar Andrew in 1965. They moved to Heavener from Oklahoma City in 1966 where she taught at Heavener School for one year. She then worked five years in the Financial Aid office at Carl Albert Junior College and then spent two years as the Business Education instructor at Kiamichi Area Vo-Tech School in Spiro. She finished her career and retired from Ouachita Correctional Center after twenty- two years in the business office and as the Business Manager. In her younger years, Peggy loved sports and loved to play golf. She spent a great amount of time in her last years watching basketball, softball and golf on television. She once wrote, published and marketed an accounting book entitled "Double Entry the Name- Accounting the Game" and adapted the Monopoly Game into a way of learning accounting. She was an avid book reader, preferring audio books when she could get them. Peggy loved her pets almost as much as she did her family. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and cards with her friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Heavener First Baptist Church with Brother Sam Dyer officiating. She will rest following the service in Heavener Memorial Park next to Ralph, Sr. Arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Eddie Freeman, Rodney Hemphill, Joe Westfall, Craig Hall, John Thompson, Brad Naylor, and Cody Huie.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Todd Baker, Merwyn Davis, and Von Mead.
Family has requested in lieu of flowers that you make a donation to The Gideons International for the purchase of Bibles.
Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., Sunday and Monday at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home.
