Morris Herman Elder of Howe, Oklahoma was born October 6, 1932 in the Glendale Community in Heavener, Oklahoma to Samuel Cleveland and Amanda C. (Martindale) Elder and passed away on May 30, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 89.

He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Amanda Elder; two infant sons; four brothers Sidney, Bea, Reid, and Gene Elder; and six sisters Bertha Stacy, Bessie thrift, Dorotha Elliot, Eunice Redman, Euva Jane, and Violet.
Morris was a lifelong resident of the area, a rancher, farmer, a school teacher, and also worked for the Corp of Engineers until he retired. He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. Morris was a 32nd degree Mason. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He was a veteran, where he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He will be deeply missed by who loved and knew him.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2022 at Mt. View Baptist Church in the Glendale Community with Reverend Tim Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in the Glendale Community under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma. Military honors will be provided by the Poteau Disabled American Veterans #63.

Viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
