Obituary

Emery Leon Williams of Heavener, Oklahoma was born January 14, 1939 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Dillard and Mentie (Haynes) Williams and passed away on January 26, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 82.
He is survived by:

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Mentie Williams; one brother, JD Williams; and four sisters, Ione H. Miranda, Erma D. Gilbert, Anna Lee Pipkins, and Opal Beatrice Brownfield.
Leon was a long-time resident of the area, a graduate from Heavener High School and Poteau Community College. He served as the Military Police in the U.S. Army and was a veteran in the Vietnam era. Leon began working at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on November 15, 1965 until October 31, 1990. He retired as an Auditor/Transportation Specialist I with 25 years of service with the department. He enjoyed hanging out with friends at the local convenient stores. He also enjoyed traveling, reading the Bible, and listening to Christian music.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021 at Reichert Cemetery with Brother Jerry Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Reichert Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Buddy Lockhart and Roger Naylor
Viewing will be from noon until 6:00 p.m., Thursday and 8:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
