Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Sherman Stacy, 64, of Hodgen, Oklahoma was born on September 30, 1961 in Poteau, Oklahoma to James Odis “OB” and Icie (Lloyd) Stacy and passed away on August 1, 2026 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Joe is survived by:

Two daughters: Jessica McGee and husband Wesley of Dallas, Texas; and Rachel Snook of Heavener, Oklahoma

Two sons: Tyler Stacy of Heavener, Oklahoma and Ryan Stacy of Heavener, Oklahoma

Two sisters: Betty Frizzell of Hodgen, Oklahoma; Tina Wiles and husband Randy of the Hontubby Community

One brother: Jay Stacy and wife Beth of Hodgen, Oklahoma

Eight grandchildren: Mia McGee, Quinn McGee, Sean McGee, Connor Stacy, Piper Jo Stacy, Zoey Greb, Annabelle Snook, and Ryder Joseph Snook

Numerous other loved ones and a host of friends who loved him dearly

He was preceded in death by his parents, OB and Icie Stacy; one brother, Ben Stacy; and one sister, Gladys Deliphene Caughern.

Joe, a cherished member of our community, passed away after many years of dedicated service and devotion. A proud graduate of Heavener High School, Class of 1979, he spent his career as an Engineer with the KCS Railroad until his retirement. Joe was actively involved in the Heavener School Board for several years, demonstrating his commitment to education and the community.

As a valued member of the Heavener Masonic Lodge #154 and the Knights Templar in Muskogee, Joe was known for his integrity and community spirit. He had a profound love for the outdoors, embracing fishing, hunting, and shooting, which brought him joy and adventure. Above all, Joe treasured his family and cherished every moment spent with them. His warm presence and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service to honor Joseph’s life will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener, Oklahoma with Reverend Clay Caughern officiating with the Masonic Rites provided by the Heavener Masonic Lodge #154. Burial will follow in the Hodgen Cemetery in Hodgen, Oklahoma under the direction and care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home in Heavener, Oklahoma.

Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday. Family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Tyler Stacy, Ryan Stacy, Justin Frizzell, Jimmy Don White, Tim Wells, and Wesley McGee.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Scott Stacy, Sam Stacy, Stacy Wiles, and Brannon Wiles.
