James Ray Elder of Howe, Oklahoma was born April 7, 1989 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Jimmy and Lisa (Potter) Elder and passed away on December 4, 2023 in Heavener, Oklahoma at the age of 34.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gene and Thirl Elder; his maternal step-grandfather, Mike Graham; his uncle, Zane Delaughter.
James was a 2007 graduate of Wister High School. He worked at Wister Public Schools as the Technology Director, Transportation Coordinator, Maintenance Coordinator, Bus Driver, and friend. James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all whom loved and knew him.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener, Oklahoma with Mr. Sam Walden officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in the Glendale Community under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Cliff Morgan, Stacy Gibson, Carl Hastings, Albert Cole, Victor Davison, and Dustin Vaughn.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Justin Elder, Von Mead, and Dakota Moore.
Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday; 9:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., Friday; 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday.
The family will have visitation with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
