Edward Leon Smallwood of Heavener, Oklahoma was born May 27, 1938 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Fred, Sr. and Velma (Ford) Smallwood and passed away May 20, 2017 in Poteau, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

Fred J.R. Smallwood and wife Dorene of Poteau, Oklahoma
Jessie Smallwood and wife Pauline of Heavener, Oklahoma
Paul Smallwood of Heavener, Oklahoma
Clarence Smallwood and wife Mona of Bates, Arkansas
Carol Smallwood and wife Shirley of Heavener, Oklahoma

Nellie Watts and husband C.J. of Heavener, Oklahoma
Barbara Collins of Heavener, Oklahoma

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred, Sr. and Velma Smallwood; three sons, David Smallwood, Kenneth Smallwood, and Edward Junior; and one daughter, Teresa Smallwood. Edward was a long-time resident of the area and was an Assembly Line worker for Whirlpool. After he retired from Whirlpool, he went to work for the City of Heavener. He was of the Catholic faith.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Heavener First Assembly of God with Reverend Charlie Scott and Reverend Ray Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Hontubby Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be: Laramie Thompson, Carrol Smallwood, Nathan Underwood, Lucas ONeill, Bryan Thompson, and Isaiah Thompson

Viewing will be from noon until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday with the family visiting with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
