Darrel Gallegly, 90, of Pocola, Oklahoma (formerly of Heavener, Oklahoma) was born October 21, 1927 in Howe, Oklahoma to Amos and Littie (Benson) Gallegly and passed away November 3, 2017 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Karen Bessette and Larry Condon of Poteau, Oklahoma
Jana Gwyn Gallegly of Fort Smith, Arkansas

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Littie Gallegly; two brothers, James Albert and Garlen (Cotton) Gallegly; and one sister, Loreen (Gallegly) Biggs.
Darrel was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Pocola where he served as Trustee and Treasurer. In the early 1960s, he was co-owner of T & G Builders Supply in Heavener, Oklahoma. He built several homes in Heavener during this time. He then began his career in the LeFlore County Court House as 1st Deputy to the County Clerk. Later he was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to serve out the term of the previous County Clerk. He later was elected and served until his retirement in 1989. He was long-term Secretary-Treasurer of the Heavener Cemetery Association. Darrel was a man of integrity. He was honest, kind, and generous. He leaves behind many dear friends and loved ones who cherish their memories of good times with him.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Pocola, Oklahoma with Brother Paul Walker and Dr. Jeff Beshears officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener, Oklahoma under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Tom Harrald, Perry Babb, Bud Whaley, Don Young, John Thomas, and Art Drury.
Viewing will be from noon until 8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home in Heavener; noon until 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola, Oklahoma.
The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola.
