Obituary

Couline Joysline Wickware, 91, of Hodgen, Oklahoma was born February 19, 1933 in the Big Creek Community in Heavener, Oklahoma to Harry and Anna Mae (Pinnell) Warford and passed away from this life on March 9, 2024 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She was named by special friends Dooley and Alma Webster.
She is survived by:
One daughter:
Beverly Cox of Hodgen, Oklahoma
One grandson:
Mark Couch of Hodgen, Oklahoma
Numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Mae Warford; her husband of 62 years, C.L. "Hossie" Wickware; a son, Randy Wickware; a brother, Troy Warford; and and a sister, Lola Davis.
Couline was a longtime resident of the area and was a homemaker. She accepted Jesus as her Savior as a child and joined Big Creek Baptist Church. Couline moved to Hodgen in 1948 and married C.L. "Hossie" Wickware on May 29, 1948 in Waldron, Arkansas. They were married for 62 years. In 1955, she joined First Baptist Church in Hodgen, where she taught VBS and was a Sunday school teacher. Couline loved to read and study her Bible. She was a prayer warrior, where she even prayed for people over the phone. Couline thoroughly enjoyed sewing, working in the garden, growing flowers, and taking care of animals. Couline was co-owner of the Hodgen Bait Shop for 26 years and also an Avon Representative for over 40 years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Hodgen First Baptist Church in Hodgen, Oklahoma with Brother John Paul McAlester officiating. Burial will follow in the Hodgen Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Couline to Gideons International or Oklahoma Baptist Childrens Home to OBHC, 3800 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
She will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until Noon, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Bud Kelly, Butch Sims, Shawn Keeney, Bud Morgan, Kip Kelly, Cody Eaton, and Denny Kelly.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Curtis Howze, H.
